Saturday, 22 May 2021A TeamHigginshawHome36-24St Judes NWML side continued their great start to the season, making it 3 wins in 3, by overcoming a strong Higginshaw side 36-24, in their Division 4 clash at Parsons Meadow.
This was the by far toughest test St Judes, against a huge Higginshaw pack with a well originised back line, but the enthusiasm and togetherness showed by the home side, proved them once again unstoppable.
Tries scorers for St Judes were Scott Robinson (3), Kian Lawton, Liam Foster, and Ben Fisher. Ben also added 4 goals.
In another superb all round team performance, Ben Fisher, Brett Taberner, Danny Clayton, and Scott Robinson were particularly outstanding.

Sunday, 23 May 2021Under 18'sBank Quay BullsHome14-30A frustrating result today for Judes, we should have been full of beans off the back of a good win last week, but that same hunger just didn’t seem to be there. We were our own worst enemy first half, turning over far too much ball, with Bank Quay taking full advantage and before we knew it, we were 4 scores down. We stuck at it though and a bit of luck went our way on the stroke of half time when we were awarded a penalty and just started to move the ball around. A ball from Callum went to ground, but this time instead of turning it over, James managed to control it and keep the movement going, shifting the ball to our winger Liam Barrington, who didn’t have a lot of space to work in, yet still managed to squeeze in the corner. A difficult conversion was only just short from Callum, but it put a bit of a spark back in our game and showed we could do some damage out on the edges.

There must have been a strong team talk at half time, as Judes seemed to come out with a different attitude and were ready to get in the arm wrestle. We had defended a lot first half, so was good to see us running some attack, as our man of the match Ryan, took control from fullback. After back to back penalties, we were camped on their line and after a couple of darts, Callum swarmed and showing his strength dived over, bounced off the defender and landed smack under the sticks, making an easier conversion. Another error from Judes gifted the ball to Bank Quay and they broke through, although Logan chased back and put in a superb tackle, it just delayed the inevitable and saw our opponents go in on the wing. Judes didn’t give up and had a decent period of attack with a good run by Brook saw us in a great attacking position and a pin-point kick had to be knocked dead by our opponents and gave us a repeat. Another positive angled run from Brook, saw him awarded a penalty for a high shot and we worked the ball out to Ben Ollerton, who dived over recording his first Judes try. Our celebrations were short lived though when back to back errors, catapulted Bank Quay up the field and scored an easy final try. We finished the game with some great scrambling defence, denying our opponents any further points, unfortunately the damage was done in the first half and we lost the game 14-30.

We have a great set of lads in our team who were more than capable of winning this game. We had to manage a number of injuries, but thought our subs filled in strongly off the bench. We had a much better second half, but Bank Quay were a very strong physical team and wanted the win more. We're not a million miles off where we need to be, when we build momentum in a game, we need to work off the back of that and cut down on the errors. We're learning on the job and the lads need to have that belief they are more than capable of competing in these games.

Sunday, 23 May 2021Under 9's - GoldsAshton BearsAway36 - 13Another brilliant game today by every single one of our players. Despite only having 1 sub, they all got stuck in and helped each other out. Not only did we score some great tries but we also held strong in defence.
