Saturday, 18 June 2022 | 1st Team | Normanton | Home | 17-17 | St Judes and Normanton served up a thriller of game with a 17-17 draw in their NCL Division 2 clash at Parsons Meadow. Normanton got off to the better start taking an early 0-12 lead. A stunning try saving tackle by the outstanding Danny Cassidy in the 23rd minute proved a game breaker and gave St Judes the ascendancy. Tries from Reece Matthews and Connor Parkinson brought the home side back in game to trail 10-12 at the break. Normanton struck first in the second half to take a 10-16 lead, but that lead didn’t last long as Reece Matthews ran for his second score to tie the game 16-16. A Danny Cassidy drop goal in the 75 minute gave St Jude’s a narrow 17-16 lead and as the game reached the 80th minute it looked like St Jude’s would pull of a stunning win. However with only seconds before the final whistle, Normanton struck with a drop goal themselves to tie the game 17-17. In a fantastic all round team performance in a very entertaining game, Kieran Rennox was named NCL man of the match for tireless defensive efforts, whilst Danny Cassidy claimed the sponsors award for his outstanding display. Other players to catch the eye were Connor Parkinson, Max Dudley, and Baz Rothwell. |
Sunday, 19 June 2022 | 10's - Maroons | Thatto heath | Home | 38-10 | The Maroons welcomed Thatto Heath to Parsons Meadow. Earlier in the season, a depleted Judes side went down against the boys from St Helens but that wasn't to be repeated on home soil. Despite missing players again, Judes put in another excellent performance against a really good side that came to throw the ball about. Sunday, 19 June 2022 | 11's - Golds | Limehurst Lions | Away | 34-36 | Match report 19.06.2022 Limehurst Lions V Wigan St Judes U11’s Golds. Wigan St Judes travelled over to Oldham were Limehurst Lions hosted today’s match. Some outstanding effort from all of the team. The Gold’s were leading at half time with a 12-18 lead. The second half was neck and neck with a race to the final whistle, Limehurst scoring in the last few seconds converting their goal to make them on top with a final score of 36-34 to the Lions. Try scorers for today: Declan Haskayne Will Cobley Zak Lushchan Tommy Shaw X2 Ollie Caddick. Conversions were made by: Henlea Baynham Will Cobley Archie Unsworth Max Lowe Cameron Riley. A special mention to Toby Hutchinson who played the whole match for Limehurst Lions, Freddie Davis and Jayden King who played half each. Sunday, 19 June 2022 | 15's | Newton Storm | Home | 28- 0 | Sunday 19th June Judes u15s v Newton Judes took on Newton today in the cup and were in no mood to let it slip by. Judes started a little slow but kept a clean line . Newton didn't want to be outdone and kept coming at Judes with all they had but the defence stayed firm . Judes scored 1st and after that it was 1 way traffic . Newton didn't give up and kept on coming right to final whistle but Judes were just too strong with a final score of 28 v 0 . M.O.M went to Jaiden Coaches M.O.M went to Callum Moon and Deecon Snape Well done lads |
