Saturday, 18 June 20221st TeamNormantonHome17-17St Judes and Normanton served up a thriller of game with a 17-17 draw in their NCL Division 2 clash at Parsons Meadow.
Normanton got off to the better start taking an early 0-12 lead.
A stunning try saving tackle by the outstanding Danny Cassidy in the 23rd minute proved a game breaker and gave St Judes the ascendancy.
Tries from Reece Matthews and Connor Parkinson brought the home side back in game to trail 10-12 at the break.
Normanton struck first in the second half to take a 10-16 lead, but that lead didn’t last long as Reece Matthews ran for his second score to tie the game 16-16.
A Danny Cassidy drop goal in the 75 minute gave St Jude’s a narrow 17-16 lead and as the game reached the 80th minute it looked like St Jude’s would pull of a stunning win. However with only seconds before the final whistle, Normanton struck with a drop goal themselves to tie the game 17-17.
In a fantastic all round team performance in a very entertaining game, Kieran Rennox was named NCL man of the match for tireless defensive efforts, whilst Danny Cassidy claimed the sponsors award for his outstanding display. Other players to catch the eye were Connor Parkinson, Max Dudley, and Baz Rothwell.
Sunday, 19 June 202210's - MaroonsThatto heathHome38-10The Maroons welcomed Thatto Heath to Parsons Meadow. Earlier in the season, a depleted Judes side went down against the boys from St Helens but that wasn't to be repeated on home soil.

Despite missing players again, Judes put in another excellent performance against a really good side that came to throw the ball about.

Thatto Heath struggled to handle strong running from Sam Charnock, Leo Wallwork, Kian Halliwell and opposition man of the match Jack Needham

Special mentions also go to Ethan Couzens and Charlie Hibbert for great efforts in attack and defence
