WIGAN ST JUDES 44-20 STANNINGLEY (LEEDS)

 Judes secured there place in the national cup semi - finals with a victory over Leeds Stanningley. Stanningley scored within in the first set of six and converted it but judes responded 5 minutes later when Danny Blackledge went over in the corner off the back of a great ball from Tommy Parkinson. Moments later Judes scored again when Dave Carneys footwork and vision sent him over underneath the posts. Converted by Dave Carney for 10-6. With 20 minutes to go in the first half and Stanningley scored out wide but were unsuccessful with the kick for 10-10. Andy Riley 5 minutes later scored the try of the game when he scooted from his own 40 metre line, beat two defenders and then beat the full back to score under the posts. On the stroke of half time Riley got a second off the back of a great offload from Tom Owen. Dave Carney converted them both to send Judes in 22-10 up at half time.
 
Judes come out in the sceond half firing and scored two tries within the first 10 minutes. First went to Stu Banks when he finished off the try off the back of the initial break from James Rimmer and then Adam Stableford off the back of another great ball from Tommy Parkinson. Dave Carney converted one of them for 32-10 to Judes. Judes looked to had secured their win moments later when Dave Carney scored a second try identical to his first and converted it for 38-10. Stanningley puled two tries back within a 10 minute spell and converted one to make the scored 38-20 but on the stroke of full time Judes secured a well fouhgt victory when Phil Lyon picked an interception pass out of the air and ran 90 metres to score. Dave Carney converted for 44-20 at full time.
 
Man of the macth for judes was Alex Marsh but was closely followed by Dave Carney and Andy Riley.
