Pilkington recs 0 v 62 Wigan st Judes

After a long rest, the lads travelled to St. Helens to face a unknown quantity.

The twelve lads of judes were pumped up to go out and win for missing player Josh Mawdsley.
This was evident from the start with Layton Cottom going over for the first of his 4 tries today, and soon after Jack Buono-Lester decided to show Pilks a clean pair of heels going over for the first of his three tries. Liam Grant not to be left out got in between the pair by going over for a brace. The returning Scott Finney showed that he was back to fitness with devastating runs and tackling anything that came his way. Tyler Kelly playing only his 2nd game after returning from an 8 month injury lay off, not only tackled well but made a timely interception, ran the ball well but knew he would get tackled with great vision to passing to a supporting Layton who scored. He was rewarded minutes later by going over himself for his 1st Judes try. Every player from Lewis Banks and Maliki (Paddy) Kofa in the middle organising, to Jack Doran and Max Jones on the wings. With birthday boy Cody Newton feeding some good passes from play of the ball and even going over to cap his birthday. Callum Siddeley marshalled from the back as not to let pilks to break judes lines. Also strong in the pack was an improving Josh Bridson.

This was a great performance, with only few mistakes. Judes playing as team are unstoppable!

Well done lads, let's take this to Shevington next week.

Match Report

Shevington Sharks v Wigan St.Judes

Today Judes traveled the short distance to Shevington Sharks for their 1st game in A league .
Judes had a full squad today and a squad excited to be back playing after the summer break .
1st half saw a number of errors from both sides , from knock ons to drop balls and you could tell both teams were a touch rusty after the summer break .
Didn't take long for Judes to get back into their stride and take 1st blood with a great worked try . Shevington never backed off and made sure every tackle counted , they run the ball at the Judes line hard and showed some great skill through hands but Judes didn't want their line broken . Judes scored again to make it 0-12 at halftime.
2nd half started with Judes kicking off which dropped straight into the arms of a fast number 6 who went straight around a sleepy Judes defence to pull Shevington to within 6 points.
Judes weren't letting that happen again and the defence tightened up quickly. Judes ran the ball hard at all times , put it through hands with ease and made some great plays .
In defence Judes were hard and unforgiving, some hard tackles and some scrambling defence saw Judes keep their line clean for the rest of the match .
Judes scored 4 further tries in the 2nd half and throughout the match all conversions were kicked .
All in all a great start back for Judes but in no way shape or form did they have all their own way , Shevington gave them a great game there today and we would like to thank Shevington for their hospitality.
Well done team , let's keep it rolling

St Jude’s golds 10- 6 crosfield cobras!

Captain- Issac Fleming

Jude’s kick the game off but crosfields knock on straight away, our boys take full advantage of this getting the ball out to Aston on the wing going over the line to make it 4-0.
Jude’s golds keep up there trade mark defence and the only reason crosfields see our try line was from an interception, Bradley banks chases him down and catches him but crosfields make an off load to his team mate backing him up score
4-6.
Jude’s play the game in good spirit it letting there heads go down with , some great tackling
Hilly puts a great kick in with a great chase from brad but crosfields kick the ball into there in goal and brad touches it down but with a bit of confusion over the rules of fly kicking the try was disallowed and we were awarded a penalty judes did some awesome passing and see hilly go over the line and get his conversion leaving the final score 10-6.
Cracking game to blow the cobwebs away from summer break
