1st Team

Warm up game 2 v Thatto Heath finished up in a 22-10 score line to the visitors. The first quarter was very encouraging with Judes making good yards on plays. They also could easily have scored on two occasions but alas the final pass . Thatto were well up for this warm up game with some good rugby at times but Judes held the line well and the half time score was 12 nil to the visitors was a bit flattering the second half finishing with 10 points apiece was more like it. Overall Judes performance was littered with mistakes that will improve but there was also some good signs to work on. Point scorers for Judes were Nathan Jones 1 try, Joey Brady 1try, John Darbyshire 1 goal. Gavin Rodden, David Fagan, Tom Owen and Darrion Ball showed glimpses of what's to come this season. All players will have learned from this hit out and no what is expected of them this 2017 season.

St Judes 36-14 Lambwath Lions

St Judes entertained Hull league champions Lambwath Lions in the 1st round of the BARLA National cup and ran out convincing 36-14 winners.

St Judes didn't get off to the best of starts as game rustiness saw them surrender possession on several occasions in the opening 10 minutes of the game and the big set Hull outfit were only too happy snap up the gifted possession and were soon 10-0 to the good.

St Judes did however soon settle into the game and went on to produce some outstanding rugby. Good build up work from Lewis Belshaw saw Ben Findlow go in at the corner to open the St Judes account. Further St Judes tries then followed from Lewis Belshaw, the first of 3 for the day for him, Jack Barnes, who enjoyed an outstanding St Judes debut, Connor Ramsdale & Owen Gibson. Jack Mills kicked 4 goals.

In a superb all round team performance it was difficult to pick out any individuals, although the performances of Lewis Belshaw, Ben Findlow, & Jack Barnes are certainly worthy of mention.

Next week Crosfields at home in round 2.
