Sun, 25 Apr 2021Under 18'sInce Rose BridgeAway24 - 4Our team is a brand new team that were pieced together only 4 weeks ago with players having to get to know each other, as well as the way each other play in a very short period of time. It was great to get back out on the pitch and back to some normality after 18 months.

We knew we would have it tough, so today’s friendly was all about getting a run out and testing out combinations. Bridge had come to the game fired up and hungry to win, I think our team lacked that slightly and played a bit too friendly and showed them too much respect. First half we were finding our feet somewhat and fighting many decisions that were going against us. Any team being awarded back to back penalties are going to crucify you, unfortunately we were on the wrong side of that today and saw Bridge rack up 18 unanswered points in the first half. A couple of positives in the first half were a fantastic break by our Man of the Match Josh, who steamed for the line and was unlucky not to score. And late in the second half a wicked bounce was swiftly pounced on by our number 7 Callum, who was over the line, but Bridge did enough to shield the ball to prevent us scoring.

Judes grew into the game and had a much stronger second half with better completion in sets, although we should have been 4 points to the good when Ryan kicked and chased the ball, but was brought down off the ball and the ref awarded absolutely nothing!! I also want to point out a try saving tackle by our number 6 Callum, Judes knock on in Bridge’s half and stand watching a lose ball, Bridge pick it up and set off down the wing, Callum chased back and tracked him all the way, forcing him into touch and saving a definite 4 points, that is the passion we want to see in games!

Second half was fairly equal with both teams scoring 1 try, ours courtesy of some individual skill from our number 1 Ryan, who chipped over, hoofed the ball again, gathered it in and this time wasn’t denied scoring and plonked it down over the line. Bridge were gifted possession from a Judes knock on and off the back of that had the territory they needed to crash over and score.

We will learn from this game, we are a new squad who need time to gel and work as a team. Today’s game wasn’t a cricket score from a strong Bridge side, if they hadn’t racked up so many points in the first half from penalties, it could have been a different story. We will get there, one friendly doesn't make a team, some hard work in training, we’ll come good. Well Done lads for dusting off your boots and getting back out on that pitch.

Sun, 25 Apr 2021Under 10's - Maroonslatchford GiantsAway12-28on a bright Sunday morning away at latchford the judes lads were ready to go after a long layoff and latchford got us off with kick we're st judes went straight in to attack with jake chrichley getting us going forward with great work from louie skellon who today played the hooker role for the first time having a really good solid game getting us round the park before oliver williams sent joel deacon through to go 40 metres to white wash to score joel converting his own try. Judes again and gain defence stood firm with great work from harry wiswell George jake and louie before joel deacon broke the line to run 50 metres before just being brought down before the line quick play the ball before louie skellon came on the ball like a rocket but a great tackle from latchford player kept him out and then george dived over 12-0 halftime and judes kicked to latchford who spilled the ball were then the ball went to charlie heaton and ellis birkett who was playing his first game for the judes today making good metres and then louie sent the ball out to liam then oilver before meallan ward smash through the line to score his first and latchford looked rattled with work from freddie harry ryley flynn who now made his name at fullback jinked and weaved through the line before williams sent it to jake who then tipped the ball on to meallan who went through for his second but his defence too kept latchford at bay but a very good solid Display from the judes lads with the last try going left to right before the ball went to liam wood who hit george on. a short ball who went in for his second well done st judes
Sun, 25 Apr 2021Under 9's - GoldsHaydockHome28-28U9s Golds.
Due to our game at Folly Lane being cancelled, we were asked to join forces with St Patricks. They only had 4 players and were due to play Haydock at home. We put any rivalry to one side and it became Wigan v Haydock.
This was our first ever game and I can not put in to words how proud I am of every single player.
Try scorers: Mason 3, Jacob 2, Ronnie 1, Callumn (st patricks) 2
