Halton Farnworth HornetsAway18-8
This would be our last game of the season, as we agreed on a play-off double header away at Halton and the winner takes all! Judes showed what Champions they really are and finished their season off in style by becoming the Play-Off Champions 2019, with a fantastic 18-8 win. Tries came from Junior Nsemba, Harvey Makin and Reagan Sumner, conversions by Callum Silcock, who have all had cracking seasons this year.

Man of the Match, went to Harvey Makin, who was his usual powerful self and bossed the game up the middle, getting himself on the score-board to.

We've had a lot of challenges this year, but our lads have gone out week after week, put their bodies on the line and worked extremely hard to be the top of their game. What a team we have, we couldn't be any prouder of these lads. We've also had a new coaching set up this year, which has worked 100% and brought a lot of fun and enjoyment back into the team. Winning is fantastic, when you're enjoying doing it!! Massive thanks to Dave, Craig and Yanni for jumping on board with the team and taking us to another successful season.

Newton StormHome28 - 10
Wigan st judes 28 v Newton Storm 10.

After a break of almost a month due postponed games and games been given, we finally got to play back down at the meadow.

A 12 man judes team took on a full strength Newton Storm (+subs) on a heavy pitch. This on paper would have seemed hard for judes to win it.

The 1st half started well for judes and it wasn't long before Layton Cottom broke Newton Storms defence. Then a great miss out pass from Lewis Banks found it's way to Alex Birch to go over in the corner. Layton Cottom then found open space to gain his brace today. With a hard defensive line Newton Storm just couldn't get any points even when pinning judes for repeat sets on our own line. Before the break Liam Grant went on a jinking run through Newton Storm to go in under the posts. At the break it was 22 - 0.

The second saw JBL (Jack Buono-Lester) take a good pass at full pace to punch a hole through Newton and start a foot chase with a covering Newton full back, JBL just had that extra yard of pace to go in under the sticks. Judes started to feel it on a leg sapping pitch and Newton being able to bring on fresh legs started to dominate the game but judes' defensive pressure saw final passes going wild, an interception from Alex Birch + a try saving knock down kept Newton out. Unfortunately judes just couldn't keep Newton Storm out and they went over twice but time was against them and at the whistle judes had won it 28 to 10.

Well done lads shown your metal today.

Award winners this week are :-

Man of the match - Lewis Banks

Parents man of the match - Alex Birch

Blackbrook RoyalsHome10-22
Today the golds hosted Blackbrook who are on a great run at the minute after falling short in the league.
The Golds just haven't got off the starting block in these play offs following their undefeated league run and today were down to just 14 players due to injuries, prior commitments and holidays.
The line speed killed Judes today with very slow tackling and a lot of falling off players we let Brook run far too much and dominate the game.
We had 5 players out of their natural position and all 5 played extremely well considering their lack of experience in those parts of the field.
Two great tries from Oliver Wright and Tom Hill gave the lads some positive highlights in a difficult game but Brook were too strong for our lethargic pack.
A huge well done to Keegan Boyd, Tom Hill, Oliver Wright, Austin Daniel and Freddie Winnard who stepped into their new roles for the game today, giving their very best at extremely short notice.
The playoffs have not been too kind to us and the lads have definitely lost that spark that saw them win the league this season but we are positive it will be back and hope to end the play off games on a high with a full squad (Fingers crossed!) We can't wait for pre season and next year's fixtures and have no doubt we can duplicate our league run once we are all back and ready following the break.

Sunday 20th October
Wigan St Judes vs Burtonwood
Another chilly Sunday morning at St Judes. Visitors today to brave the weather are Burtonwood. Captain today... Jack Elwick, Harrison opened up play kicking to the opposition. Judes quickly gain possession, passing well, resulting in Deacon going over for Judes first try, Deacon converts giving Judes 6-0 lead.
Burtonwood restart the game, great tackling as usual from Jack Myers sees Judes gain possession. A great early run from Aston and great handling on a cold day unfortunately to no avail... Burtonwood showing promise, but solid defence and a great tackle from Harrison sees the ball turned over. The next few minutes sees the ball change possession a few times (cold hands), in attack, great passing from Cody, Isaac, Mason and Hilly, in defence, solid tackling from Harrison, Jack Elwick, Jack Myers and Josh.
Judes substitution, Tyler for Isaac, whom quickly joins the game with great momentum, retrieves the ball from a Burtonwood kick, offloads to Aston, with an awesome full length run, goes over for Judes second try plus Aston’s conversion gives Judes a 12-0 lead.
From the restart, Judes defence typically on fire, Jack Elwick wins a penalty for a ripped ball, ball finds the realisable hands of Mason, weaving through the Burtonwood defence, resulting in a try under the posts. Mason adds the conversion giving Judes a 18-0 lead.
From the restart Burtonwood make decent yards, great defence from Jack Elwick, Aston, Josh, Tyler,Cody and Isaac results in Burtonwoods penalty, whistle goes, half time.
Second half begins identically to the first with great pressure from the onset, resulting in Mason going over for his brace, having already kicked Jack Myers steps up and converts the try to give Judes a 24-0 lead.
Burtonwood apply commendable pressure but Judes defence like a brick wall as usual, Cody, Josh,Tyler, Jack Elwick and Jack Hill, some great running and handling from Aston, Jack Myers, Harrison and Mason unfortunately to no avail, Burtonwood ball, couple of tackles into the set and Jack Hill delivers a haymaker of a tackle to give Judes the possession once more again great runs from Harrison and Jack Elwick results in Cody coming close to a 5th try, a well timed pass from Jack Myers results in Jack Elwick forcing his way over the line, with the conversion missed, Judes lead 28-0.
With Burtonwood a man down, Tyler unselfishly joins the opposition, the dying minutes proved to be all Judes, Mason showing great sporting team play attitude sees him force his way to the line, off loading to Isaac whom goes over for the try, unfortunately the conversion is missed, Judes win the game 32-0

Heysham Atoms 40 Wigan St Judes 32

A great morning of rugby today up at Heysham with lots of really good rugby skills on display, especially footwork, in what was our Newbies longest away trip this season.

A slow start from Judes meant that at the end of the first half we trailed 5 tries to 2. In the second half it was a much closer game and at one point got to within 1 try of our hosts. There's lots of good things to take from this match and we're so proud of how well they've all done.
