The last game of the silver salver saw Judes make another trip to Cadishead Rhinos. We knew we ere going to be in for a tough game and we had prepared for that. But the first half was extremely error strewn and penalty ridden from both teams. Neither team managed to get a hold on the game and it was unlike any of the previous 5 performances. Cadishead went over first after a penalty got the down field. Our defence just opened up near the line and Judes conceded their first try in 3 games. This sparked Judes into life and managed to get some good sets completed. Just before half time Declan made a superb drive over the right edge, from the resulting play the ball, Rio draws in the defenders and offloads at pace to Liam who drove the ball under the sticks. The try was converted and it was 6-6 at half time.
Second half started a lot calmer with Judes determined not to finish their season on the losing side. Unfortunately, Judes conceded first from a high kick that was fumbled and Cadishead reacted first. 12-6 down, but plenty of time left. That try was the catalyst for Judes to push on and show the determination and ability that had won them the last 5 on the bounce. From 10 m out, clever play from the halves and speedy work from TJ to push up in support saw him crash over the line with the defenders on his back. Kick was missed, but this was the start of all the Judes pressure. The next try came from approximately 70m out. Good drives up the field from Dylan F and Connor, led the ball onto Liam, who with an inch of open space managed to barge his way up field and drag 3 men over the line. A perfect end to a speed set. Judes started to get the taste of something and got up field again, with speed, to find themselves spreading the ball quickly from right to left to find a huge overlap in defence and a short pass from Jake to Cameron Ashcroft saw him crash over for his 3rd try in 3 weeks. The game was approaching the end and Judes had 1 more try in them. Good line speed from the team saw Judes force a knock on. From the resulting scrum Cadishead were dragged to Judes right, only for Judes to pass left quickly and Liam go over for his hat trick in the last game of the season. The game finished with a 12-26 win for Judes.

Tries - Liam Ryding 3, TJ Downing, Cameron Ashcroft
Conversions - Leon Trafford 3

Awards - Most Improved....Cameron Ashcroft...fantastic 3 weeks for Cameron, strong in defence, learning more about attacking structure with each game and scoring good tries in the process.
Captains Choice.....Lewis Banks....fantastic in defence over recent weeks and today was no different. Still very new to the game, but it showing great progressions each week.
Man of the Match....Liam Ryding....kept his head when things got a little heated, helped the team remain calm and put in an outstanding shift tackling with everything he had and gaining his rewards with 3 tries.
A great end to the season Judes, every goal we've set, we reached. Not without it's stresses at times, but what a journey we've been on. Well done Wigan St Judes under 15's - silver salver champions 2018!!!

St Judes Golds 20 v Golborne Pirates 16

Today saw st judes golds under 9's season draw to a close and what a way to Finnish

Golbourne kicked the game off attacking judes solid defence there was big hits from from Oscar Roper and Jack Elwick keeping out the first set and showing goldborne we ment business. The boys on both teams were showing a real flare today. In judes first real charge for the line mason Chisnall broke free making good yards but Aston Bailey was unlucky being caught in touch as he looked set to score. The pirates took this opertunity to respond with a great try. Judes feeling the pressure pushed forward and the trusty Isac Flemmimg scored his first try of the season and what a try it was. The sideline erupted with excitement. On the pitch making his debut with the golds was Dylan Pennington his first set saw him make an outstanding tackle taking golbourne into touch. This lads not shying away from anything. Judes were now looked to have some momentum Mason Chilsnall and Jack Hill were powering through with the sheer strength. But it was mason Chisnall who left golbourne smelling the smoke from his boots as he run down the wing to score. Judes boys were reading the game well and everyone could of had a mention in the first half.

2nd half judes start the play defending. Harrison Oaks and Oscar Roper's tag team tackling was at its best. Unfortunately judes knocked on and Golbourne took the opertunity to score in the corner. The lads wasn't gonna let this knock them.
However a couple of fumbles saw Golbourne get another. Judes drew the defence together ready for a big attack, and it was Mason Chisnall who kept hold of a tricky ball with finger tips to score. The boys looked charge now and text to take the game.judes defended with Cody Smith dropping on a loose ball. It was Aston Bailey's turn this time to score a blinding run from half way saw him scoot down the right wing and over the line. There was a few ore sets of towing and frowing but the moment of the game was when Tadgh (Sam Tompkins) Casey caught an absolute blinder. The game drew to a close and so has the season.
