An early kick off in Widnes, we met with Halton Farnworth Hornets.

After a few minutes rest Judes went back for the second half, stepping up their defense as well as their pace. An amazing run from Zak Lushchan took himself to the try line, Jamie Kelly converting. 12-18. Judes were excellent in defense for a few sets keeping Halton away from the try line, some big hits from Henlea Baynham and Alfie Jennings. Amazing team effort again sending Zak Lushchan over for his second try, Henlea Baynham converting 12-24.
Halton managed to sneak through our defensive line and score a try right in the corner. 18-24.

Amazing effort from each player on the pitch, each one stepped up to the challenge that was put in front of them. We still have a lot to learn, but each week, we can see improvement.

Again an amazing effort, a bit scrappy in the first half, but at half time heads had been screwed on and the boys got to work to complete the job.

Sunday, 20 June 2021Under 11'sWest BankAway26-8

St.Judes looked ready for action this Father’s Day morning. They kicked off the game to West Bank who showed strong running from the offset. Good defence from Callum on the wing stopped an early try but West Bank were determined and a good sidestep from their number 6 set them up for their first try. Judes weren’t defeated, with strong running from the forwards, an offload from Joshua to Max and a pass from Max to Layton gave Judes their first try, with Layton scoring on the wing. West Bank showed good skill with the ball in hand and took advantage of an overlap to score again on the wing. A few handling errors from Judes meant they were defending their own line, Judes were strong in defence with Owen, Harvey, George, Conor, Oli, Ethan and Jack all tackling well, but West Bank managed to break through the defence for a third try before half time.
The second half kicked off with West Bank scoring and converting a try but the Judes lads weren’t defeated. Strong determined runs from Sol, and Jack got Judes to over the half way line. Good forward movement form the team and good passing from Lewis to Owen meant Judes were getting ever nearer to the try line. On the fifth tackle a great kick from Layton and chase from Ben saw Ben scoring over the line for Judes second try. The lads dug deep in defence and kept West bank from scoring near the line. Aidan caught a kick well to give Judes an attacking advantage and Will ran strong to move the Judes lads further towards the try line, but a handling error saw West Bank with the ball again and no one could stop the strong run of their 13 who scored for the final try of the match.
Strong running from Judes today but the West Bank defence was well organised and it was difficult to break through. Well done to Will playing his first game for Judes this week and taking the ball in well. The lads will come back stronger next week!

Sunday, 20 June 2021Under 15s - GoldsRylands SharksHome38 - 18Today the Golds welcomed the newly promoted Rylands Sharks to The Meadow, having only met this team before back at u12s, our lads had no idea what to expect three years on.

Missing their fullback, Austin Daniel, the Golds were going into the match with a new structure but they worked hard with the reshuffle and managed to grind out the win and go through to the quarter finals of the Lancashire Cup!

Judes Head Coach, Simon Silcock, was pleased with the performance over all and said that he felt we looked a bit rusty after another Covid break but was glad the lads dug deep and managed to take the win.

Some key performers-

Oliver Wright (MOM)
Louis Topping (Excellent at full back filling in for Austin )
Scott Finney (Worked hard and showed great defence)
Taylor Kerr (Great feet and agility for the tries)

Judes Try Scorers;

Lewis Topping x 2
Oliver Wright x 2

Sunday, 20 June 2021Under 9's - GoldsHaydockAway36-48We headed to Haydock with a very small team due to children having to isolate as a precaution with school bubbles going down. Despite this we held our heads high and gave it our best. There were lots of hard tackles and great runs and most important of all some great team work. Hopefully we will get to play our full team next week as the children who couldn't join us were missed by their team mates.
