Judes 6-20 Golborne

The only friendly before the start of the season saw us get reacqainted with our friends from Golborne. The game started with an error from Judes, but they more than made up for it with formidable defence. Golborne kept knocking on the door, but Judes always had the answer. In attack Judes pace has improved, just the timing that was off, which forced mistakes. It took Golborne 15 minutes to get over the line. From that point Judes needed to sharpen up and find the way through. Unfortunately Golborne scored twice more before the break by pinging the ball wide and exposing us out wide.

HT - 0-12.

The second half was a similar arm wrestle, mistakes from either side made it a little scrappy but Judes never gave in. TJ, Connor and Nathan dragged the team forward with fantastic metres after contact every time. Jake and Rio has everything in place, just unfortunately the timing was still slightly off. As the game was coming to a close, Judes got a penalty and from that Dylan Keller managed to muscle his way over at the side of the sticks. Golborne had scored 2 tries in the second half but failed to convert any. Judes had great intensity in attack and defence and won’t go far wrong through the season with those efforts. Well done, onwards to next week.

Blackbrook 10-24 Wigan St.Judes

Today group C Judes took the short trip to group A Blackbrook . Looking to be pushed and tested in this friendly before the season proper starts .

Judes knew it would be a tough day at the office but all the players were up for it right from the start .

Judes drew 1st blood with a great worked try and conversion kicked before Blackbrook came back at Judes to level the score . Judes over again with another great try n conversion. Not to be outdone Blackbrook came back once more but the conversion was missed.

Both sides showed some awesome work both in attack n defence in the 1st half even after tempers fraid which saw 1 off each side go to the bin.

2nd half was much of the same ...... great attacks and great defensive sets , going end to end and holding each other out.

Something had to give and Judes found the way through.

2 tries unanswered and both converted Judes took the lead . They muscled up in defence to ensure Blackbrook didn't get through and with time running out Judes seemed to be playing better n better.

Full time saw Judes take the win but Blackbrook played a superb game and Judes would like to thank them for their hospitality.
