Sunday, 16 October 202218'sThatto Heath CrusadersAway10-42As we head toward the end of the season, today was never going to be an easy task off the back of our Final win and 17 sore heads from our presentation the night before.

Judes came out in their usual confident fashion and started with a great defensive set that culminating in Tom charging the ball down and Judes regaining the ball in Thatto’s half, to start their attack. Judes swing the ball out to the left, but Thatto had that edge covered, as they did all game. Judes were forced to bring the ball back in field and a perfectly timed pass from Roman saw Cal Palmer on a strong angled run and still with players to beat, showed impressive speed and strength to go over for Judes first try. Brook stepped up to take the conversion, unluckily, the ball hit the post and ricocheted in the wrong direction. The next few sets saw both teams going end to end, but end of set errors meant both not recording any points. After Thatto surrendered the ball by putting in 1 pass to many, Judes counter attacked and moved the ball to their left edge, their defence scrambled and again snuffed out our attack, but clever play from our captain Callum Silcock, took the ball to the line himself and showing great footwork darting over the whitewash to score a fantastic opportunist try, converted by Roman. Judes started with purpose and solid defence and were the better team for over 20 minutes of the half, but energy levels understandably started to drop. Once Thatto got a foot hold in the game, they scored 3 unanswered tries, to take them in the lead at half time 18-10.

Second half Thatto increase their intensity, but Judes struggle to find the energy to put up the fight needed. Judes didn’t get the rub of the green either, which showed as Thatto scored 4 unanswered tries to take the win 42-10.

Can’t win um all lads, am super proud you pulled on a shirt and gave it a shot in the circumstances. Man of the Match chosen by Thatto, was our prop Tom, he always comes out and gives 100%, he played big minutes today put his body on the line and made a fantastic break motoring away 30+ metres, well deserved Tom! We’ve had another amazing season and I feel very honoured to be part of this team. It’s heart-breaking that 2nd year 18s are moving up to OA, as I’ve worked side by side with them from u7s. They are THE BEST group of lads, I’ll miss them terribly, but know they will be just as successful going forward. I wish you all the very best of luck and thank you for the amazing memories! #UTJ
Sunday, 16 October 20229's - MaroonsBurtonwood BulldogsHome2-8A tough game for the Maroons today against a team we normally match up well against. Burtonwood proved tough to break down and all credit goes to them as their defence really set the platform and they ran straight and hard breaking down the Judes defensive line with ease. Both tries today were scored by Jack and player of the match goes to Alfie P for a spirited performance and not giving despite the scoreline getting away from his team. Last game of the season next week against Langworthy and we’ll be hoping for a strong end to the season.
