East leedsHome24-12
As wins go this right up there and could be so important at the end or the season as Jude’s eventually ran out out winners 24-12 against a determined East Leeds outfit 24-12 at the Meadow. Man of the Match Gavin Rodden was once again on his A game and his two tries were so important in this win along with Darryl Kings Boot as he slotted over 4 from 4. Tom Owen worked hard in the Middles and was so unlucky not to score after a 30 Meter break. Brett Taberner Back after injury had a solid game.Sponsors Man of the Match Jack Mills had a top game and scored wide out late on and is getting better with each game. Dec Parkinson’s neat kick through set up Jason Holland for Jude’s opening score to draw level after Leeds had scored on 24 mins. Gavin Rodden scored two and his second was a bit special on 77 mins when Aaron Smith hit the line on his own 20 and his neat pass to Rodden put him away for a great try to seal this very important win.

Thatto Heath CrusadersAway44-16
Final Score: Thatto Heath 16 v Judes 44

We had already secured our first win this week against Leigh Miners 20-4, in a tough match down at Judes, now we had to go round again in a Wigan Saints derby at Thatto Heath.

Judes were outstanding straight from the off and were scoring back to back tries within minutes. First one from Nathan Evans who supported our winger to cut inside and score and secondly from Reagan Sumner after Lewis took a great ball from dummy and off-loaded to Reagan who shot through and scored. Judes completed well on the next couple of sets and suddenly a loose ball was hoofed by Callum and it was a foot-race for the line, unfortunately the Thatto player got the boot to it last and sent it dead for a drop out. A fantastic run from our returning captain Kalan, got us in a strong position and great vision from Lewis saw the gap and sent the ball out to Junior Nsemba who had a stroll in to score. Converted by Callum Silcock, we were now 14 nil up. The game restarted and Judes were suddenly like a different team, coming away from their structure and giving to many penalties. After receiving a yellow card for an accidental crusher tackle, Judes were one man down and Thatto took full advantage by scoring 2 quick fire tries and by half time were right back in the game at 10-14.

After a calming half time talk, Judes got back to what they do best and after Thatto were finally pulled for a forward pass, Judes had the ball in hand and started their invasion of tries second half. The first coming from our captain, Kalan Devine who had ran strongly all game, using his sheer strength to barge over the defenders and score. Great defence from Judes force a Thatto knock-on and the ball is turned over, Judes complete the set and a superb kick over from Ryan, which honestly looked too shallow, landed perfectly in the hands of Nathan Evans, who took it brilliantly and ran to the line to score his second. A massive high bomb in the next set, saw the ball take a huge bounce, luckily it bounced in our direction and Ryan Wood was on hand to grasp the ball and shoot off unopposed to the line. On our next set a chip over didn’t quite work out for us, after the ball dropped to their full-back and gaps in our defence saw him speed off and score. A tiny lapse in concentration gifted Thatto 6 points, but second half we were resolute enough not to let them score again. Judes seemed to have a couple more decisions go their way this half and a grubber was played at the by the Thatto defender and gifted us 6 more in Thatto’s half. Alfie, another player who had ran hard this game, got the ball and headed for the line, he was over and twisted and turned to get the ball down, but the Ref blew held up and sent us back to the 10. Wasn’t long though before we moved it back to the middle and McKenzie Davies came steaming onto the ball and bounced over to score them 4 points. Thatto restart and kick out on the full, but did enough to stop us scoring again. Judes weren’t quite finished yet though and Junior sets a terrific platform and quick hands down the line to Reagan Sumner who headed for the line and again looked covered, but he used his body to twist, bump off the defenders and plonk it over the line. Callum Silcock was 100% with the boot second half and put in a good grubber to get the ball out of play and end the game with a solid win 44-16.

A special win boys for all our rugby dads and Grandads ……… HAPPY FATHER DAY CHAPS!

Today’s man of the match chosen by Thatto Heath, went to Ryan Wood who has a great rugby brain, he is getting stronger every week at his new position at 7 and doing exactly what the coaches ask of him. Scored a try for himself to today and set up another couple up with the boot.

Salford City RoostersHome16-12
Judes got back to winning ways with a gritty win against a good Salford Roosters side. Despite being low on bodies and having no interchanges for 3/4 of the game, we managed to survive a late surge from the Rooster, running out deserved winners 16-12

North Wales CrusadersAway26 - 48
North Wales Crusaders 26 v Wigan St Judes 48.

After a long early morning trip to the south side of Wrexham.

The Judes had a game with top of the table crusaders who had a hard tackling reputation.
This wasn't understated as the Judes bore brunt to some hard hitting and after Josh Mawdsley crossing, crusaders really hit back. They quickly started to amass lead with 3 tries and 2 converted. Lewis Banks got judes back in touch then a second put us within 4 points at the break. 18 - 14.

At start of second Judes conceded a earlier try, the judes of old would have let their heads drop but not today's team and at 14 -22 the boys dug deep! A resurgent Judes hit crusaders with the skills that can beat any force and Callum Siddeley started the Judes purple patch going over 2 weeks in a row. Then Layton Cottom took control with a hat-trick of tries! Crusaders did try to hit back going over in corner, Liam Grant and Jack Buono-Lester put the game to bed with Judes 8th and 9th try of game!
At the whistle it was 26 - 48 to judes.

Great game boys! This is how to win games.

Award winners this week :-

Man of the match - Lewis Banks

Parents man of the match - Layton Cottom

Coaches Award - Josh Mawdsley

Next week we are at home to Leyland warriors a double points game.

Match Report

Wigan St.Judes v Salford City Roosters

Today Judes entertained Salford city Roosters at the Meadow , after a week of rain the pitch was in good condition but handling was going to be key .
Judes got possession 1st and run the ball hard but the sloppy ball wasnt playing and Judes soon coughed up possession. Roosters came back at Judes using their forwards well to get them moving up the pitch but Judes forwards were well up for the match up . Tackles were strong n hard and the Judes defensive line stood strong .
End to end rugby for the 1st 10 minutes before Roosters coughed the ball up in a tackle, Judes picked up the ball on the halfway line and went in for their 1st try .
From there it was 1 way traffic , Judes went through their sets in possession n sometimes gifting the ball to the Roosters on the Judes line . However Judes defence muscled up and kept them out , getting the ball back and moving it well .
2nd half saw Judes start well , scoring more , running their plays and dominating the opponents when in defence. Roosters never gave up at any point and looked to be moving the ball well at all times but they just couldn't find a way through that defensive line of Judes .
Game only had about 5-10 minutes left and Judes gave penalty after penalty letting Roosters get some easy yards up field and the inevitable happened .... Judes line was crossed n Roosters scored their 1 n only try .
Great game from both sides but the Judes forwards did their job today n took their opponents forwards out the game, Judes were too strong for Roosters n took the win .
