Sat, 14 Mar 20201st TeamBeverleyHome18-14Good win today at the meadow for St Jude’s first team against a gutsy Beverley 18-14 in poor conditions
Man of the Match Danny Fallon was on top form along with sponsors Man of the Match Josh Rogerson.
There was plenty of good things on show as Jude’s secured the 2points in their first home game of the 2020 season
Sat, 14 Mar 2020A TeamRuncornAway22-6A young St Judes travelled over to play an experienced and physical Runcorn team. The young Judes team where led around the pitch by MOM Will Prior and veteran prop forwards Nathan Moore and Mike Stevenson. Judes took a 10 nil break into the lead courtesy of tries from Ben Fisher off the back of a well worked scrum move and a solo effort from Luke Belshaw. Under 18s player Rio Roberts made a great impact off the bench - out jumping the opposition to collect a Ben fisher cross field kick to grab his first open age try. It was Roberts again providing the final pass off a flowing Judes move for Saul Mills to get a well deserved try to top off a workmanlike performance in the back row. The Judes defence was outstanding throughout with all 17 players playing their part in an outstanding team display.
Sat, 14 Mar 2020MastersChester / Bank QuayAway0-0Judes masters took part in the Lancashire Master Festival at leyland. Judes played two game against Chester and Bank Quay. Judes tries where scored by Jon Baldwin, Chris Cobley, Matt Leigh and Steve Makinson
Sun, 15 Mar 2020Under 11's - GoldsCadisheadAway6-12Cadishead 12 vs Wigan st Jude’s golds u11s 6

A cold morning over in caddishead for what could be potentially the last game for a while. Captain for the day Oscar roper.
Cadishead get the game under way kicking to st Judes just as the game gets underway the heaven open making for difficult handling conditions.
Judes take the first set but a few forced errors and drop ball see cadishead camped on Judes line but great defence see set after set with the line not being broken
Finally Judes get going with a good run from tadgh To get into cadishead half seeing some good hands from Oscar give it to Aston who nearly scores
Judes are now camped in cadishead half and the introduction off mason see him go over for the first try off the match and kick the conversion
6 nil to Judes
Cadishead come again at Judes with some good tackles from Harrison & Issac on debut they break the line for kian to make a last ditch tackle but the pressure tells and they got the ball out and go over in the corner and kick the conversion to make it 6 all
Some good tacking from jack Elwick & Cody see cadishead make an error and bring the half to an end.

Second half
Judes kick off to get the second half underway more errors give cadishead good field position with a good kick on the last seeing them go over to make the score
12-6
Chiz tackes the ball from the restart and nearly scores taking half the cadishead team with him but more good defence keeps Judes out. The games back and forth but handling errors and penalties are costing Judes. Some good defence from Jack Myers & Elwick see them nearly drive back the cadishead player over his own line. As the games seem to be closing out chiz makes one last effort going over the line but unfortunately bobbles the ball when going to score. The whistle goes and Caddishead win on another day the score would off been different but you can’t win a game with no ball to many errors cost Judes today.

Sun, 15 Mar 2020Under 11's - MaroonsOldham St Anne'sHome40-16Today’s game pitted us against Oldham St Anne’s on a mud bath at the Meadow. The Maroons lovely looking new kits were going to be unrecognisable when this match was over.
It was a cold morning at Judes, I’m sure I saw a penguin with a coat on stood on the touchline. Jack Worthington, the captain for the day got the game started with a big kick off.
Some great defence straight from kick off to keep St Anne’s out and with our first attack, the ever reliable try machine Ellis Corfield with his 4th of the campaign in only Judes’ 2nd match. Billy Baxter with the conversion with his trusty left peg. 6-0.
Judes were well on top now and some great running by Zak, unrecognisable in his muddy kit but Anne’s just could not contain him, a great pass from Ethan set up Captain Jack to go under the posts, great rugby Judes. 10-0.
More pressure as Anne’s were on their own try line and a misplaced pass gave Daniel the easiest of finishes in the corner. 14-0.
Some great yards made by Reuben Charnock who had half the Oldham team bouncing off him, then a scoot by Ethan and he forced his way over the line for Judes 4th try of the half. Lewis with the conversion. 20-0.
Oldham then on a rare trip into Judes half, broke through the wall of the Judes defence to go over. Try was converted and the score was 20-6.
Captain Jack then went over again for his 2nd try of the game with a great dummy bamboozling half of Oldham’s defence.
Some great tackling by Kyle and Daniel keeping Oldham out on the wing, and then Billy with one of his weaving runs went over in the corner he then converted his own try. 30-6.
Oldham then came forward again to reduce the deficit, 30-10.
Billy Whizz then went over again for his 2nd try of the game, Oldham hitting back instantly so scores were 34-14.
Zak who was a powerhouse throughout the match got over for a well-deserved try near the end which Lewis converted. Final score Judes Maroons 40 – Oldham St Anne’s 16.
With these unprecedented times we are living in, you never know if the season is going to be suspended tomorrow but if it does that was great performance to end on. Every member of the squad giving it their all and putting their bodies and often heads on the line. UTJ

Crossfield Vipers v Wigan St.Judes

Today Judes traveled to Crossfields hoping to get back on winning ways.
Judes kicked off and getting their defensive line sorted kept Crossfields at bay . Judes defence proved to be strong today and a determined Crossfields side couldn't find a way through .
Judes ran the ball at Crossfields with the determination we came to know last year , throwing the ball about and using their forwards well . Wasnt long before Judes crossed the line to score the opening try scored Nathan Holland which was converted by Nathan Stafford .
Crossfields got the ball later in the half , closing in on Judes line but a wayward pass saw Ryleigh Moore intercept and the line cleared.
Further upfield Crossfields gave away a penalty which was kicked successfully by Nathan Stafford, halt time score was 0-8
2nd half saw Judes even more determined than ever. Judes were still in control and scored a further 3 well worked trys scored by Ellis Clarke , Harley Cavanagh and Deecan Snape, 1 converted by Nathan Stafford and 1 by Alfie Liptrot.
Judes didnt have it all their own way though as Crossfields managed to get up the field and crossed the Judes line , conversion was missed making the final score 4-24.
A great game to watch with both sides playing some great fluent rugby . Great play and tackling from all the Judes team today but special mention to Jayden Melling for the way his game has grown over the off season and Sam Littler who has only played a small amount of time for the team but is getting stuck in straight away.
M.O.M went to Harley Cavanagh
Top Tackler went to Nathan Stafford
Coaches M.O.M went to Nathan Holland
Sun, 15 Mar 2020Under 14's - MaroonsWidnes St Marie'sHome32 - 14Wigan St Judes 32 V Widnes St Marie's 14.

The first home game of the season down at the meadow.

It saw us a play a team of unknown abilities, this in turn saw a tough first half and it was 15 minutes before either team scored. Judes broke the deadlock with Layton Cottom going over (converted by Lewis Banks) this lead didn't last as St Marie's scored and then took the lead at 6 - 10 in the last minute of the half Judes levelled it with Layton Cottom completing his brace.

The second saw Judes take the game to Marie's with Jack Buono-Lester going in two tries unanswered then completed his hat trick with a great pass from Layton Cottom. Mistakes allowed Marie's a lifeline with them going in at the corner. The win was sealed with a Alex Birch interception and showing another contender for try of the season going in under the sticks. Conversions from Lewis Banks saw Judes take the points.

Today saw the lads dig in for the win and a great debut performance from Liam Sheridan.
All round good performance form every lad but need to cut out the simple mistakes.

Well done boys!

Award winners this week are :-

Man of the match - Jack Buono-Lester

Parents man of the match - Layton Cottom

Sun, 15 Mar 2020Under 18'sChorleyAway24-4Jude’s 18s opened there league season with an great defensive display against a spirited Chorley side. All the talk was about completion of sets and discipline. And credit to the lads they showed great composure in a tough game. Jude’s pinned Chorley down in there own half for most of the 1st half and a great team defensive display forced the Chorley error with joe sumner putting Rio Roberts over for the 1st. Straight from the ko. Jude’s where on the score sheet again. With Joe summer pushing over from hooker. Jude’s looked good in defence but did squander a few chances on the opposing line. Chorley coming off the line made a forced error again letting Jude’s in for there 3Rd try nicely scored by Jake liptrot.
HT score 18-0 Jude’s

The second half started and to there credit Chorley came out pumped and a couple of sloppy tackles sent them up the field. Again Jude’s defended there line well. Jude’s got into a arm wrestle for most of the second half before a nice kick chase caught Chorley napping and another error gave Jude’s the ball. Jude’s set up with good width and shape. And shifted the ball for Jude’s final try of the game scored by Owen Birch. Chorley finished the game with a consolation try but the spoils today and well deserved went to Jude’s with the lads putting in a top defensive display.

Sun, 15 Mar 2020Under 7's - GoldsWigan St PatricksAway32 28Another great morning of rugby today, both teams played really well.

Excellent defensive work all round again from our team, they're setting really good standards for themselves to take in to our future games.

We kept our concentration well and played some good rugby with the ball scoring some excellent tries throughout the game.

Player of the match today was Leo, he wears his heart on his sleeve and was brilliant throughout.

We're really proud of the players today, especially as the kids started to tire as the game went on as they kept to the task at hand.
Sun, 15 Mar 2020Under 7's - MaroonsAshton bearsHome12-40Good game. Score doesn't reflect the effort put in by both sides. Big improvement from last weeks game. Need improvement of defensive line but brilliant game to watch. Ashton bears good team to play against and fought hard for the win.

Sun, 15 Mar 2020Under 9's - MaroonsWest Bank bearsHome52-24Down at the meadow this morning st Judes maroons got there second game of the campaign under way against West Bank bears. The game started of with a bang with drives from lewis Baker jake critchley to set up meallan ward great work from Liam wood to gain the overlap to send meallan in for his first try. Judes defence was on top putting two and three men in to the tackle driving the West Bank attack backwards and forcing the error for judes maroons to have westbank pinned in there own halve with good work from Liam wood again to send meallan through for his second try judes were 8-0 up. Before good work from westbank to hit back with a great try but the maroons dug in deep to lay the platform for George stuart to go straight through a gaping hole from a great pass from Oliver williams. Judes were 16-4 up but judes we’re not done with some great defence from Charlie Heaton and Arron Batker kept westbank out, we’re judes shot up the field with a break from Lewis Baker who just got dragged down before the line with a quick play the ball to Liam wood who passed to Oliver williams to get over the white wash. West Bank made a great break but good defence from freddie Selby and Oliver Williams kept them out before the halftime whistle went .

Second half started with drivers from Jake Critchley and Lewis Baker to get the maroons with Loui skellon taking control at the hooker position guiding the st judes pack round the pitch before Harry wiswell shot on the ball like a missile going over the white wash.
