18 points in a blistering 10 minuet spell early in the second half was enough to see off a spirited Leigh East performance as St Jude’s ran out 42-18 winners Away.Wigan St Jude’s always had the upper hand in this game despite an early scare when Leigh scored first on 15 mins. But Jude’s were soon back level when a Leigh East mistake gave Jude’s good field position on the right Jude’s quick hands to Gary McMahon who then fed NCL Man of the Match Barry Rothwell who darted in by the posts to score, Danny Fallon added the two. This was quickly followed by a Tom Owen try,Dec Parkinson putting the prop in under the posts,Danny Fallon did the rest with boot and Jude’s were 12-6 up at the Half. St Jude’s Forwards Baz Gregson, Tom Owen, Gav Rodden, Dave Fagan, Danny Clayton and Leon Harber who rightly took the sponsors Man of the Match award were all right on their games with Big yards and a solid defence when needed and Jude’s centres Parkinson and Pendlebury were safe to stop any threats. St Jude’s started the second with a bang when right from the kick off Rob Fenney found Gary McMahon who put Joey Brady away on the left edge and Brady found the supporting Gav Rodden who scored right under the posts,McMahon goaled. Then came the game breaking 10 min spell a James Ward bust set up Leon Harber for his try as he shot through some tired defenders, McMahon goaled. Another quick long range Jude’s attack when Baz Rothwell found Gary McMahon who put Rodden away and Joey Brady was in support as he raced away to score, McMahon goaled. Mins later Big Aaron Smith just smashed his way through from just inside the Leigh half to break away and score under the sticks.McMahon did the rest with the boot.Danny Clayton became the seventh different try-scorer re-adjusting to a McMahon pass before charging through the demoralised Leigh Defence.

NCL Man of the Match…Baz Rothwell another solid performance
Sponsors Man of the Match…Leon Harber….strong powerful carries.

A very youthful St Judes NWML side were gallant 20-40 losers in their NWML Division 2 clash at home to league leaders Ulverston.
Under 18 starlets, Jack Mills, Lewis Melling, and Matty McGoewn featured strongly in a gritty performance played in difficult conditions. Fitness levels was ultimately the key difference between the 2 sides in the end, as in attack St Judes were equally as impressive as the Ulverston high fliers.
Try scorers for St Judes were Lewis Melling (2), Darryl King, and Curtis Berry.
An outstanding defensive performance from Brett Taberner earned him the man of the Match award, whilst Darryl King, Ben Fisher and Nathan Jones also enjoyed outstanding games.
