Saturday, 13 August 20221st TeamDewsbury CelticAway18- 32A fantastic effort from what was probably the youngest 1st team we’ve ever put on the field
Judes lost the game away against Dewsbury Celtic but the result was in the balance right up to the last 10 minutes
With six u/18s in the team , and eleven mobile enthusiastic openage players the team had a nice balance
Celtic scored 1st as early as 3 minutes after gaining 3 repeat sets 6-0
Not to be out done Jude’s created some pressure of there own and from a scrum 20 m out stand-off cal Silcock through an outrageous dummy and darted in under the post goaled by Danny Cassidy
6-6
Lewis Melling scored next for Jude’s weaving his way through the Celtic defence before sprinting 40 m for a great try again goaled by Danny Cassidy 6-12 . Just before halftime Celtic drew level after some sloppy play from judes 12-12
Lack of ball for Jude’s led to Celtic extending there lead after the break to 24-12 but Jude’s replied with a try after great defence forced an error and Scrum half Dec Parkinson picked up the loose ball and shot in goaled by Danny Cassidy 24-18
It was all Jude’s now and on 3 occasions went agonising close to scoring , but it was not to be and Celtic scored on full time to win 32-18
Big raps to the 6 eighteens who played 3 on debut Brooklyn Waterworth, Ben Ollerton , and Logan Johnston plus Cal palmer, cal Silcock, Brogan Turner add to that experience and support of the openage lads and futures looking bright
Danny Cassidy was the NCL MoM , closely followed by Brogan Turner, ,Baz Rothwell, Danny Fallon, and half’s Silcock and Dec Parkinson
Top Tackles went to Kieran rennox and Dec Parkinson 31
Most meters went to Conner Parkinson 125m
Followed by Deacon Ashcroft, Brogan Turner and Danny Cassidy all on 90m
UP the Jude’s

Sunday, 14 August 202218'sHindley ARLFCHome64-0We organised a friendly run out to introduce some of our u16s to the world of 18s rugby, unfortunately the weather wasn’t on our side and the blistering heat made it very difficult playing conditions. Hats off to both teams they stuck at it and played the whole match, which turned into a bit of a try fest for Judes, even in the heat.

Daniel W was first to strike with a brace of tries early in the game showcasing his speed and agility down the wing. Next up was Stephen who benefited from 2 great drives from Tom and Malachi and saw him steam over the line with defenders hanging off him. Our 3rd points scorer was Calum P, who ran a great line and took a cheeky little drop off ball from Roman to dive over and score. Our 5th try was a pearler from our Captain, Cal , he’s usually the one creating tries, but today he got rewarded by supporting Brogan and used some great footwork to dart through and score himself. Judes showed great line speed today with Logan leading the charge. Brook took a few shots to the chops today, but this one proved costly to Hindley as Judes start to move the ball around and a stray pass dropped into the hands of Reece who got it out to Ethan one of our 16s for him to score. Brook finally got rewarded himself, with a well worked move between him and Roman, with Brook managing to head for the line, wrong footing the fullback to score right at the side of the sticks. 5 conversion first half from Nathan and Roman, saw us with a healthy 38- 0 lead at half time.

Would have been easy for Judes to come out second half and take their foot off the gas, but they didn’t they dug in and after a loose ball from Hindley, Judes started on half way and headed for the Hindley try line. Lewis T looked covered, but somehow used some cleaver footwork to squeeze through a gap and score. Next to score was Ben who had waited patiently for his chance for space out wide and pounced over to score, almost immediately he was over again and tried his best to wriggle over and add to his tally, unfortunately he was held up. This time the ball was switched to the right and what has become a bit of a signature move for Roman and Cal P, saw Cal saunter in for his second. Good running again from Tom and Malachi, who’d forged a good partnership today, set Frosty up to make a break and give a cracking bullet pass to Nathan, who was rewarded for his strong efforts in the game,. Judes were now desperate to keep Hindley out, but they put in a great high bomb which came off our player and found touch, meaning they were on the attack. Luckily, they knocked-on and the ball was snapped up by Lewis T, who found the energy to race off down the pitch and score his second under the uprights. Successful conversions again this half by Nathan and Roman, but a special mention for the kick of the game from Ben, who wanted to take the easy conversion to end the game in front of the sticks and missed it! Think some practice is needed Ben lad. The game still ended 64-0 with a huge win for Judes.

Thanks to our u16s for stepping up and playing 18s rugby today, they did an amazing job and put in a real confident performance, with quite a few of them scoring tries on their debut. One of our 16s Malachi Price, even took the Man of the Match award, well deserved for his outstanding performance causing absolute mayhem down the middle of the field. Well Done to the whole squad today, really don’t know where you found the energy, but what a dominant performance. Big shout out to Hindley, who still travelled over to play us in these awful conditions and stuck at it till the end – thanks guys!
