NCL Man of the Match Paul Pendlebury scored 3 tries as St Judes overcame a spirited West Bowling side to keep Judes right up there in the promotion battle as they ran out 38-12 winners at the Meadow. Gary McMahon was the chief tormentor for Judes as they ran in a total of 7 tries and to add to that ,kept West Bowling scoreless in the second half with only12 men. St Judes first try was on 5 mins when Full Back Baz Rothwell slotted a neat kick through for centre Connor Parkinson to score in the corner. On 10 mins Paul Pendlebury got his first try when from a scrum just inside the visitors half Gary McMahon hit the blind side and Paul Pendlebury provided the assist, but Paul still had plenty to do as he sliced through to score, Ben Fisher goaled. Mins later Prop Luke Barrett was held up over the visitors line as Judes forwards Danny Clayton, Daz Ball, Dave Fagan, Baz Gregson, and Leon Harber battered the visitors line, but to there credit West Bowling held firm and late on in the first half managed to score a great try and right on half time managed to take a shock lead 10-12.The second half Judes had to make unforced changes as Ben Fisher was injured and a player having to leave the field of play, but Judes probably put in there best performance so far as they ran in 28 unanswered points. On 43 mins Gary McMahon found Danny Fallon who’s inside ball to Paul Pendlebury for his second try started the onslaught, Fallon took over the kicking duties has he slotted over the two. The identity of the tormentor and chief didn’t change as Gary McMahons inside ball to Paul Pendlebury who burst through to score as the West Bowling Defence struggled to hold him for his third try, Fallon goaled. Another scrum on the right saw Winger Ben Jones get over in the corner as Judes turned the screw.Nathan Bevan meanwhile was thriving behind his pack and on 65 mins his show and go from dummy half saw him go in under the posts, Fallon slotted over the two. Judes were enjoying plenty of possession late in the game and Nathan Bevan finished Judes scoring with a sneaky dive over try which Danny Fallon goaled. A very good second half display with 12 men for the last 25 mins by Judes but still room for improvements as the next two games are away at East Leeds and Askam and both will play a big part in Judes season.
