St Jude’s open age traveled away to a very lively and young Millom team who also had half the village on their side, which definitely raised their game but the Jude’s lads showed plenty of character and did well to overcome all of this as they ran out winners 25-18 which keeps them right on track for automatic promotion. Jude’s opened up well with plenty off enthusiasm and on 10 mins Winger Ben Jones scored on the right off a Rob Collier high bomb , Collier added the two. Milloms lively play finally paid off with a 14 min spell where they scored 12 unanswered points to take a 12-6 lead. Jude’s pack was working overtime on their defence, Olumide Oladele, Tom Owen, Paul Pendlebury, David Fagan, Baz Rothwell and Curtis Berry putting a good stints along with Backs Rob Fenney, Rob Collier, Nathan Jones, Debutant Ben Fisher and Connor and Dec Parkinson for Judes. The lively Millom were really up for this game but it was Judes who scored next when strong running Winger Ashley Marshall came into centre field and took the ball in with some power as he broke free and went on a 50 meter run to the line to score a cracking try, Collier obliged with the boot to level the scores at 12-12. Right on the stroke of half time a Millom attack payed off with a chip kick to the corner were the centre was well placed to score and the hosts had a 18-12 lead at the turnaround. Jude’s had to dig deep for any result and everyone realised there was no turning back as Judes second half performance upped a gear debutant young forward Robbie Horton, Olumide Oladele , Paul Pendlebury , Keiron Gaskell and Baz Rothwell were well fired up and Judes were slowly getting on top.Connor Parkinson found Ben Jones  with a sweet pass for him to score on the right. Then mins later Adam Lavin crashed over on the left to put Jude’s 20-18 up with 10mins left on the clock. Jude’s final try was good to see as Dec Parkinson shot over from a Rob Fenney pass, which went down well with Decs celebrations. Right on the final hooter Jude’s inched their way to the Millom posts and the boot of Rob Collier sealed this tough win when a Drop goal which eventually went over of the posts…just ! to start the victory celebrations. After the game Coaches Peter Thomas and Martin Riley praised all the lads for their attitude and efforts to come from behind and get this much needed win. Big thanks to our Chairman Lol Lowe who kindly bought all the lads a Beer after the game.
