1st Team

Sat 8 Apr 2017 | League | Away

Once again a well below par st Jude's team never really got going in this game away at East Leeds going down 44-14 to a very big well organised side. The signs weren't good early on as the Leeds players ripped holes into Judes weak tackling. Forwards Josh Rogerson, Oly Oladele, Luke Barrett, Gavin Rodden,Tom Owen and Jason Holland working overtime trying to stop wave after wave of attacks from a very enthusiastic Leeds team. Dean Hunt, Baz Rothwell and Paul Pendlebury tried to get Jude's going and the only Highlights of the first half was on 36 mins when from a Judes scrum on Leeds 25 quick thinking Baz Rothwell went to the blind side and put winger Nathan Jones away for a try, Adam Lavin goaled to make the half time score 28-6 to the home side. St Jude's second half was noticeably better with pride kicking in at times and on 53 mins Full Back Paul Pendlebury scored a blinding try racing away 75 yards with Leeds players  in pursuit, but this effort was short lived. Leeds visibly lifted by the score crashed in for 2 quick tries and put to bed any revival by judes.Interchange forwards Keiron Gaskell and Ryan Ainscough came on to stem the Leeds outfit, who were slightly tiring with the heat. Later on Judes did have several good chances but alas the final pass not finding its mark. Take nothing away from East Leeds who played well on their own pitch but Judes weren't at the races from minute one today.
